Specific Disaster: BP Oil spill

All the pictures I see about this image invoke a certain feeling of sorrow for what has occurred. So much marine life is being negatively affected, and so much pollution has been caused. There are some pictures that invoke more of a response that others, such as the photos of birds covered completely in oil. This makes me feel angry that such a spill could have occurred, especially on such a large scale.

While looking a twitter responses for this event, there is certainly a common mood. People are outraged, angry, and pointing the blame towards BP. Many people (especially who live near the gulf) strive to help and do what they can, for they are the ones most directly affected. There is a lot of blame towards BP, yet very little towards our own society and our dependence on oil. People think that with more regulation that spills will cease to exist. Perhaps on this large a scale, but as long as we use oil there will be spills.
